What JJC Concrete Pours for Builders

Poured walls are the core of the work. Basement and foundation walls for builders and general contractors across metro Atlanta make up the main work today, and the same crew handles the pieces that sit under and around them: footings, crawl space foundations, retaining walls and subwalls.

If a set of plans calls for more than one of them, send the whole set with one bid request and note which pieces you want priced. Here is a short look at each capability and where to read more.

Poured foundation walls

Foundation walls carry the house and hold back the soil around it. JJC Concrete forms and pours them in place for new homes and additions. Read more about poured concrete foundation walls.

Basement walls

Full basements and daylight basements both start with tall, continuous walls that retain earth on one or more sides. The crew has poured walls as tall as 24 feet. See the details on poured basement walls.

Retaining walls

A poured retaining wall holds a grade change in place, whether it sits beside a driveway, behind a building pad or along a property line. More on concrete retaining walls.

Crawl space foundations

A crawl space foundation lifts the floor framing off the ground on short perimeter walls over a footing. It is a common choice where a full basement is not in the plans. Read about crawl space foundations.

Footings

Every wall above sits on a footing, and the footing has to match the plans for width, depth and elevation before anything else goes up. See the footings page.

Why Aluminum Forms?

JJC Concrete pours walls with aluminum forms, not lumber. The metal panels give the finished wall a smooth face, which matters when the wall stays exposed in a garage, an unfinished basement or a daylight elevation.

Industry sources describe aluminum forming systems as easy to strip and reuse, and note that they need less hardware and labor than wood forms. For a builder, that means the same panel system on job after job and a consistent face on the concrete.

Poured walls have a structural case as well. Building guides point out that block walls gain lateral strength only when they are fully grouted with rebar, while a taller poured wall simply takes taller forms and more concrete.

Equipment on Hand

Alongside the aluminum forms, the crew keeps excavators, bobcats and lasers on hand. Lasers are the tool for setting elevations from the plans, for footings and for the tops of walls.

When you send a bid request, tell us what site work is already done on the lot, including whether the footprint has been dug and graded, so the bid starts from the conditions the crew will find.

What to Send for a Bid

A bid on wall work starts with the plans. The more of the following you can send, the clearer the bid can be:

  • Foundation plans or the full plan set, including wall heights and lengths
  • The site location, with the lot or street and the county
  • A timeline window for when the foundation needs to go in
  • Notes on site access, slope and any grading already done
  • Any engineering or soils report the job has

Building on Georgia Red Clay

Metro Atlanta sits in Georgia's Piedmont, a region the New Georgia Encyclopedia describes as low hills and narrow valleys, with the red clay of Georgia underneath. UGA Extension notes that this clay holds too much water in a rainy winter and turns rock hard in summer.

For wall work, that means the dig, the footing elevations and the backfill all need attention to what the site is actually doing. Tell us about the lot when you send plans, and share any soils report the engineer produced.

Owners Managing Their Own Build

Poured walls follow the plans, whoever holds them. An owner acting as the builder on a custom home still starts with a foundation plan, a site and a window for the walls.

If you are managing your own build, the request looks the same: plans, site location and the window you are working toward. JJC Concrete is family owned, with family members working on the crew. Ask about anything in the foundation plans that is unclear to you when you reach out, from footing depth to how the walls meet the slab.

Where JJC Concrete Works

The crew is based in Marietta and pours walls across metro Atlanta, including Marietta, Kennesaw, Acworth, Douglasville and McDonough. JJC Concrete is licensed and insured, and Spanish service is available for crews and owners who prefer it.

How a Wall Job Goes From Plans to Strip

  1. 1

    Plans and bid request

The builder sends plans, the site location and a timeline window. The bid is built from wall heights, lengths, access and the site itself.

  2. 2

    Site and layout

With the footprint dug to the plans (tell us who is handling the dig), lasers are used to set elevations from the plans.

  3. 3

    Footings

Footings are formed and poured to the widths and depths the plans call for, giving the walls a level base.

  4. 4

    Forming and pouring the walls

Aluminum forms are set on the footings, braced and poured, with openings and embeds taken from the plans.

  5. 5

    Strip

Once the concrete can stand on its own, the forms come off and the smooth wall faces are ready for the next trades.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you pour walls?

Yes. Poured basement and foundation walls are the main work at JJC Concrete, along with retaining walls, crawl space foundations and footings. The crew forms every wall with aluminum forms, which leave a smooth finish, and has poured walls as tall as 24 feet for builders across metro Atlanta.

What should I send to get a bid?

Send the foundation plans or full plan set, the site location, and the window when you need the walls in. Notes on access, slope and grading help too, as does any engineering or soils report. Plans with wall heights and lengths give the clearest starting point for the bid.

How much do poured walls cost?

It depends on the job. Wall height, total length, site access and the conditions on the lot all shape the bid, and those change from one project to the next. Send your plans and the site location, and JJC Concrete can put a bid together for that specific job.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. JJC Concrete is licensed and insured. The company is family owned, based in Marietta, and has been pouring concrete walls since 2010, with basement and foundation walls for builders and general contractors as the main work across metro Atlanta.

Who handles permits for the foundation?

Permit requirements are set by the city or county where the job is located, so they vary by site. Ask about permits for your project when you call, and check with the local building department on what the foundation stage needs before anything is poured.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes. Hablamos español. Spanish service is available for builders, superintendents, crews and owners who prefer to talk through plans and bids in Spanish. Mention it when you reach out and the conversation can happen in whichever language works better for your team.
